IS MARTIAL LAW REALLY NECESSARY?
We cannot allow the negative behavior of the few to erode the liberties of the many.   This will happen if we continue to require and rely on others to legislate and enforce a code of conduct that we all should freely adhere to as part of a natural, spiritual, and intellectual understanding and application of truth.  What we must be concerned about is that as we ask lawmakers to legislate our lives, we are giving them power to tell us how to move.  To apply those laws is to enforce them, and this means armed enforcers.   These enforcers, in the form of police and/or soldiers, will begin to restrict and dictate our movements (i.e. our natural actions and reactions).  This will inevitably lead to a deterioration of liberty and eventual tyranny.

What we in America must awaken to is the truth.  A part of the truth is the oncoming need for martial law and strict, structural rule through local enforcement.  It will very likely include police or military occupation.  Does this appear to be something not likely to happen?  The truth is that unbeknownst to most of us, police departments across our country, both large and small, are arming themselves to the teeth with weapons provide by the Pentagon.  There are small town police departments with arsenals that go far beyond the needs of the municipalities that are to protect.  In small southern towns there is air support stored in the form of helicopters and small planes.  These arms and support are military style.  What war are they to be used to fight?  The question is, “Why is it that a small town needs a helicopter gun-ship?”  With the attacks of September 11, 2001, it is easy to say this provides good reason for such arming.  However, these arms were in place long before these terrorist attacks occurred.

We can avoid the need to have such measures instituted by simply changing our behavior.  We must control our individual actions and reactions, before we force the enforcement powers of this nation to do that for us.  It is up to the citizens of the United States of America to make sure our society remains civilized in this new millennium.  If we ignore the realities before us, we will have set in motion the circumstances that will bring about the collapse of the civilized world.  This will happen only if we allow behavior to continue to follow the direction that is producing the negativity that exists within our current living condition.  Selfishness and greed are causing the minority group we could label the “haves” to separate themselves from the majority group we could call the “have-nots.”  The “haves” are building walls and gates around their communities.  They are hiring enforcers to keep out undesirable people.  We must deal with the cause of this reaction to bring about positive resolution for everyone’s benefit.
If we do not do this, gang violence will continue as youth from all racial backgrounds become swallowed up by subcultures that give them the stability their family households and mainstream America is not providing.  An under-current of elitism/racism exists within segments of the political system and the policies that are brought forth from this faction will erode the last pillars that support the entire underclass, whether the intent is aimed at undermining the minority and poor communities specifically or not.  Under the guise of what we all know are much needed changes to our governmental support systems, things like entitlement programs in general, welfare aid, Medicare/Medicaid, public education, communal health services and the like will be all but eliminated.  This will perpetuate and exasperate the circumstances that create "haves" and "have-nots.”  As the gap between these two groups widens, another threat to our current way of life looms on the horizon.  There are existing separatists and supremacists that have been forming, waiting to use the anger and despair of the "have-nots" to fuel their hateful propaganda machines.  Our competitive economic challenges will then be distorted into biases.  With hatred at the root of these biases, Americans will blame each other for their woes.  This will pit countrymen against countrymen, brother against brother, and sister against sister.

When an individual walks down the street in a foreign country, more often than not that individual can spot a person not native to that land.  This is because that person’s physical characteristics and/or appearance differ from that of the indigenous population.  This is not true in America.  On any street in America one cannot look at another person’s physical characteristics and/or appearance and tell whether he or she is an American or not.  Hence, it is impractical, unrealistic, and detrimental to our national unity to categorize and discriminate based upon superficial physical attributes.  This is because America truly is an ethnic melting pot.  America is a nation built upon the strengths of nearly all the ethnic groups of our planet.  Americans are supposed to be united members of a nation of States.  Nation is defined as "a body of persons having a common origin and language", as with a family.  The infighting going on between American citizens of different ethnic backgrounds is, in reality, brother against brother, and sister against sister.

We cannot continue to exhibit indifferent, irresponsible behavior.  If we do, our society will soon deteriorate to the degree that we will be forced to act violently against each other.  Once that occurs, it will set off a chain of events, i.e. a cycle of negative actions and reactions that I doubt we will be able to stop.  If we are fortunate enough to stop it, many will have suffered and died.  We must consciously control our individual actions and reactions.  We must take responsibility for ourselves and not expect others, i.e. the legislature, the government, the police, or the military to control society for us.  If we allow laws to be passed aimed at controlling the behaviors we should freely be controlling ourselves, those laws will apply to everyone and we will begin losing our individual liberties.  We must start controlling ourselves before it is necessary to legislate and regulate our behavior.  Once our governing bodies start using legislation to replace personal discipline, adulthood will no longer have any meaning.  As well, legislation requires enforcement.  To enforce restrictions on individual movement requires power.  Within this context, power actually refers to the ability to force (guns).  This is the truth.  It is right before us and we must open our eyes along with our minds so that we see it and deal with it.  We must recognize the direction of our actions and take control of ourselves so that we direct our actions rightly.

Each of us looks for so much out of life, while not seeing what the true gift of living really is.  This gift is life itself.  It is the opportunity to experience.  It is up to the individual to make those experiences either positive or negative.  Human beings are all the same in a basic sense.  We think the same basic things, but our thoughts differ relative to time and individual circumstance.  We desire the same things, but the specifics of those desires are individualized relative to time and circumstance.  However, we must recognize our common concerns and respond accordingly.  If an individual wants to be praised and recognized for what they do, he or she must accept that others want that as well.  If an individual wants things that make their life comfortable, he or she must accept that others want that as well.  If an individual wants everything to go their way, he or she must accept that others want that as well and they are just as entitled.  If an individual wants their rights and property respected, he or she must accept that others want that as well.  Therefore, to have happiness and comfort for oneself, individuals must recognize that others are equally entitled, and each must respect the other’s position of existence.  This requires compromise and tolerance.  Balance is the most profound factor of creation, and both compromise and tolerance are essential elements necessary to achieving balance.  Each of us must accept our responsibility to utilize these elements to manifest the natural balances required for the perpetuation of our individual lives and society as a whole.

What we have lost sight of as individuals and as a nation is that the liberties that we have to express our attitudes, our selfishness, our greed, and our rebellion, are only allowable because of the very nature of the American social system.  In other countries, individuals do not have the freedom of expression that we have in our country.  Each of us must patriotically support this system with our very lives.  This is true if for no other reason than it is this nation that allows us to be who we are as individuals.  The complexities and pressures of our daily lives along with our selfishness and greed cause us to overlook basic facts.  We are overlooking the essence of our existence and the nature of our direction. Each of us must have our sights restored.  The only way for all of us to do this together is to rally around what our nation stands for; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  This nation is the one thing that all Americans have in common.  As well, it is the one thing we must have for our lives to be as we desire.
